The Naylor Auction
As the organization entrusted with conducting the auction sale of the
wonderful Naylor Collection tracing the history of photography, we
wish to thank those who have already expressed interest in the event.
Our first objective in producing the auction catalogue was to honor
Thurman "Jack" Naylor for the decades of unswerving passion he has
devoted to the field. The catalogue covers the many categories within
this unprecedented Collection. In part, because of this diversity of
material - from pre-photographic devices to stunning images of every
description on through modern technological wonders - our job has
been that much more complex. As is often the case with auction
catalogues (produced at a far more rapid pace than is normally found
in commercial book publishing), typographical and factual errors appear.
Those interested in the auction should know that we are taking steps
to correct such errors and will be posting revisions both on line
(www.guernseys.com) and on an Addendum that will be sent to catalogue
buyers and distributed at the auction. A number of highly qualified
experts have graciously offered to assist us in making these
corrections. The Addendum will contain both the aforementioned Errata
and many additional lots added to the sale since the catalogue went
to press.
We would like to thank those who have gone to the trouble of pointing
out descriptions requiring correction and welcome one and all to
participate in what we feel certain will be a memorable event.
