Eric,

This doesn't help much, but "Bernoud" doesn't appear in any of my lens
references, not even in the Italian 'Obiettiva Fotografica.'

He's seems to have been a photographer.

If you Google 'A. Bernoud' there are many, many images with his name,
including several that refer to his studio in Naples.

His bio in Italian;

Many early cameras (and lenses) had their owners name engraved on them.

This could be quite a cool acquisition. You should try to obtain a couple
of same-format images.

Hi Group,
Anything known about a wet-plate period lens maker, possibly
camera maker:
                          "A. Bernoud, Naples et Florence",
as engraved on a lens I have recently acquired on an un-named little wet
plate camera from France.
The name sounds French to me, the camera is made of walnut, which again
would suggest a French origin, but what's that "Naples et Florence" bit all
about?
With French "et" instead of Italian "e", for the word "and", what is
the Italian connection? Lenses made in Italy, sold in France? Or is it an
Italian camera after all?
I googled a single reference to an Alphonse Bernoud as maker of some
stereo views of Naples in a Canadian auction in December 2006. Could be the
same man. Or not.
Can't post pix. yet, it arrived with a crack kindly provided by the
postal service, and the glue is setting as we speak. I find if I leave these
things, they just get worse.
Anything known would be appreciated.
Regards, Eric.
PS. By the way, what is the protocol about attaching pics. on IDCC W&B? I
believe any form of attachment is proscribed on IDCC proper?
