Seems to me, that an auction is an auction. So, you are not responsible for  
replying to the query wether from a stranger or a friend, unless you want to 
do  so. Nor do you have an obligation to the seller. Those who wish to bid on 
an  item, or those who sell have, it seems to me, an obligation to be aware of 
what  they are doing. If they are too lazy to do their homework, it's hardly 
your  responsibility. If you were to go into a dealer, say Pacific Rim, and 
find an  article priced below its value would you insist on paying more? Nah!
