Hi W&Bers,
Rob asks for recent acquisitions. Does a non-existent camera count?
I recently bought, in an absentee bid at auction, a W&B tailboard camera which I thought was by HUME of Edinburgh. When I received it, I found it was by HULME of Birmingham.
Channing and Dunn, "British Camera Makers", refers to this firm, in their Hulme entry,
".........all the material we have seen seems to point to both [S. Hulme and E A Hulme] being retail outlets...........we can trace nothing which gives any clues as to what, if anything, they actually manufactured....."
My camera has an inlaid original label saying "Hulme, Manufacturer, Birmingham", so is it a discovery, or what? Does this mean we now know what they manufactured?
.
Well, I thought it was interesting, anyway.......
Regards,
Eric.
