Hello all, I've been on this list for a few weeks and this is my first
posting. I have enjoyed the coffee thread though I must confess I love Starbucks,
the stronger the better, with Half cream, and the plumbing information might
prove to be useful as I have a leaky faucet and am facing doing-it-myself or
waiting until we redecorate, or for Godot.
My collection is eclectic, it contains what interested me at the time, and I
still love them all, especially the several wood & brass cameras. One I've
had for a long time is a 3-1/4 X 4-1/4 field camera (though it may be metric
dimensions) with very beautiful wood and matching film holders and film pack
adapter that have that kind of dark slide made of attached slats that bend --
there's a name for that which I can never remember. I've always thought the
camera was Japanese, but I recently saw a photo of a Thornton-Pickard that looked
much like my camera. Mine has no ID or numbers on it, and based on some
small holes in it there are pieces of hardware missing. The shutter that was on
it when I bought it is a cannibalization from a Kodak folder -- what a
mismatch, though I love some of those Autographics in my collection and have also
done my share of stealing from an ICA to provide for something else. I wondered
if this list has a site that I can post a photo to, and someone may know
exactly what it is.
I'm looking forward to the Continuing Education that W & B is providing.
Marty
