[W&B] un-stapling an old catalog

I have a pretty rare Kodak Catalog...about 24 pages, 5x3 inch...stapled  
together in two places.
 
Any hints for separating the pages to scan, then putting everything back  w/o 
any problems ?
 
Paper is not brittle, but I do worry about adding any new chips in this  
delicate? procedure....
 
hints or suggestions ?
