Have you read Budd Davidson's pilot report on it. Go to www.airbum.com and look under pilot reports.

Hi. Thank you for your message. I am very pleased to find a
baby lakes owner. have choosen this type fora few reasons that I
thougt good and clever, but I never saw a real one, let have a flight in
it. Ijust read some magazine testings, and opinion of people who
appreciated the little bird, but I never got in touch with asomeone with
a long experience with it. Well;if you kept it for twelve years, you
probably appreciated it , too, and you can certainly give me a few good
ideas .
I live in France, I love aerobatics and biplanes, I am a teacher,
so plenty of time, but not very rich, so I decided to build my plane
, and choose one that seemed simple and inexpensive to build and use.
I would like to know what engine you had, and how it performed , same
for the propeller, and if you had some particular things to do for the
maintenance. I know that most biplanes need a carefull setting of wires
and cables, how was yours?
Also, did you have the basic landing gear or a bungee , or a metal
blade. I plan to build exactly like on the plans, but Thegear is a bit
complicated to do, so maybe I would try a different one.
Any weak points in the structure? something to look after carefully?
Did you have the standard great lakes trim with the scew and all moving
stabilator? it seems very complicated and slow operating, I think of a
classic small flap on the back of stabilator.
last, do you remember if the fabric on the wings did cover all the
leading edge ( aluminium sheet section ) or did it start behind it? It
is not specified on the drawings, and I never madecovering of a metalic
plane.
I am at the start of the project, with only wings completed, but I
like it much and hope to complete the machine in about 3 years, (in
accordance to my budget.) if all goes well. Have you had other
planes after the baby? still flying? I hope you are dong well ,
anyway!. Best regards, Hervé.
