Ralph,
That 15:45 seems like pretty good time for a 112 commader. I flew a Piper
Geronimo from Monterey to Hilo and my time was 16.9 hours. I would think
the 112 would have been slower than the Geronimo which was no rocket either
especially loaded up with 360 gallons. I too flew that trip at 6000 feet in
October 1978 on Friday the 13th and a black cat walked across the taxiway
at Monterey in front of me while I was taxiing out to the runway. I was too
young to be superstitious.
Also flew a 206 from Houston Hobby airport to Torrance California in just
over 8 hours... of course it had a ferry tank in it and could have gone a
lot further. I just brought it out to the west coast for the guy.
