B: W & B question

Bob,
I have the CD and it does not give the original factory information. My
inclination is to believe that the factory provided the empty weight and arm.
>From that the moment was derived, since the moment is used primarily for
recalculating the arm.
What is really eye opening is the weight of the early radios/power supplies/etc!

Good Evening Jim.
When determining the CG, the givens are the weight and the moments. By
dividing the moment by the weight you get the arm.
If there are a couple of columns of numbers on the 337 that you have or on
any equipment list that you can find, you may be able to verify the accuracy
of the addition or subtraction that was accomplished.
In any case, The CG is ALWAYs derived from the moment and weight. Not the
other way around.
Have you tried ordering the FAA CD for your airplane? Back when that stuff
was on microfiche, the original weight and balance was included. I do not
recall if it is on the new CD or not.
The other possibility would be for you to do an accurate weight and balance.
Since you have been on the list quite a while, you will recall that many of
us feel that the vast majority of the weighings done by even good shops are
fraught with errors. Get somebody like Kent, Paul or BB to do the dirty deed!
Follow the directions given in chapter ten and weigh it with the tanks
empty, not full!
When somebody suggests weighing it with fuel tanks full, I take it as
evidence that they are NOT serious about doing the job correctly.

My question is when the aircraft was delivered, was the weight and arm
given, or
would it have been the weight and moment? I can? find any documentation
prior
to the first 337 (just out of the factory).
